Gabriella Romero and Hailie Lomeli of Citrus Valley High in California finished first and fourth in the 2-mile sophomore girls race at the Fastback Invitational in the first cross country event held at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut since the 2019 Foot Locker West Regionals. Romero clocked the fastest overall female time of the meet at 12:05.7, with Lomeli running 12:20.9 to place eighth overall among the combined four girls grade level races. Citrus Valley also had junior Itzel Del Rio run 12:24.5 to finish 10th overall, as Citrus Valley was the only girls program with multiple competitors placing in the top 10.
